The Best of Times

I'm apologizing in advance if this email doesn't make sense. I am exhausted...its been quite a week. Sister DeArton told me that she likes how diligent I am but sometimes I take it a little out of control. Just for fun I want to give you a rundown of our week :)

So, last Thursday night we had an awesome encounter with a drunk man. It was dark and we were pulling up to our investigator's house down this really narrow dead end road. I turned off the car and we were getting ready to pray when all of a sudden we hear all of this yelling and swearing and pounding. We turned around to see what was going on but we couldn't see anyone because it was dark...the noise continued. As our eyes adjusted we saw this CRAZY man running around and hitting things and throwing glass in the street. We opted not to get out of the car and to drive away as soon as possible. Unfortunately, in order to turn the car around, I had to make a 3 point turn so by then he had noticed us. As we began to drive down the street, he came out from behind the trees and LUNGED at the drivers side of the car, at which point Sister DeArton let out a blood-curdling scream and I punched on the gas pedal, completely disregarding the speed bumps that were ahead of us on the road. I can still see his face in my mind as he lunged at the car and our hearts were pounding for days.

This week we did a lot of visiting/tracting which includes (but is not limited to the following) being bitten to death by mosquitos and being attacked by huge spiderwebs....drinking the milk out of a coconut...bearing our testimonies in Tongan....eating WAY too much tapioca root...teaching a homeless couple....and a big Tongan dance party. We have been approached by several guys in our area that are old enough to go on missions but have some cleaning up to do and we have started teaching a group of 6 of them to help them get their lives put together and start preaching the word.

Next week is transfers. As I reflect back on these past 6 weeks, I am only filled with good memories. We have had so much fun but we've also seen so many miracles and I am so grateful to be where I am!

Love,
Sister Stringer
