The Beach! Yay!

Malo e lelei,

It was so good to talk to you yesterday but 40 minutes definitely is not long enough. I'm so happy to hear about all of the adventures happening in good ol' Utah. You know, that's one of the disadvantages of serving in Hawaii actually...I see people I know quite often while they are on vacation here, and I get the whole scoop on what's going on at home. Ignorance is bliss and sometimes I'd rather not know all of the details haha.

My pday has been changed to Monday this transfer, which is why I'm writing again so soon. I don't have much to say except I got to go to the beach on Saturday. Woohoo!! There was a huge service project that the church did all around the island of O'ahu and each ward was assigned a different place to serve for the day. Our ward was assigned to the Hau'ula Beach Park and so Sister Han and I were able to go down to the beach and help clean it up with our ward (the Mission President approved it of course). I got to feel the sand in my toes for the first time since being here and it felt SO GOOD :) Kind of a teaser though actually because I probably won't get to do it again for the rest of my mission.

Today in VC training we were talking about being a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful to be His disciple and to serve Him in this capacity right now. However, I am also excited to take the many things I've learned and apply them to my life forever, in whatever capacity I am called to. We have all been given experiences and trials so that the Lord can use us to help others. With the knowledge of the gospel and of the Atonement, we have a lot of responsibility upon us to share it and sometimes it can feel like a daunting task.

Pres. Eyring said this, "There will be times when you will feel overwhelmed. One of the ways you will be attacked is with the feeling that you are inadequate. Well, you are inadequate to answer a call to represent God with only your own powers. But you have access to more than your natural capacities, and you do not work alone. All that He asks is that you give your best effort and your whole heart. Do it cheerfully and with the prayer of faith and when you look back on what may now seem trying times of service and sacrifice, the sacrifice will have become a blessing, and you will know that you have seen the arm of God lifting those you served for Him, and lifting you."

I am so grateful that the Lord loves me enough to share with me His power and guidance in all I do. I know the power of the Holy Ghost is real and that the greatest joy in life comes from following Jesus Christ and then helping others do the same. I want to be a missionary forever :)

Love,

Sister Stringer
